Middle-school data for John Swett Unified cover one school, Carquinez Middle, which serves grades 6–8 and enrolls 286 students. In 2025–2026, its all-grades proficiency rates were 36% in English language arts (ELA), 12% in math and 24% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. Math is the clearest academic challenge: the school’s rate was 26 percentage points below the state, a larger gap than in ELA (13 points) or science (12 points).
