Summary:
The four schools in Hillsborough City Elementary serve three elementary schools with grades K–5 and one middle school serving grades 6–8. In 2025–26, all four were above the state proficiency rate in ELA, math, and science. Their average results were 87% in ELA, 87% in math, and 81% in science—37, 49, and 45 percentage points above the state, respectively. The clearest difference among schools is in science: results ranged from 76% to 90%, a wider spread than in ELA or math.
South Hillsborough led in all-grades ELA at 88% and math at 91%, ahead of the other schools’ averages by 2 and 5 points. West Hillsborough was the science standout at 90%—11 points above the other schools’ average and 54 points above the state. Crocker Middle had the lowest all-grades rate in each subject, including 83% in math and 76% in science, but remained above state rates. Its math and science results were 5 and 7 points below the other schools’ averages. Crocker serves different grades from the three K–5 schools, so the all-grades comparisons do not cover the same grade spans.
Results changed unevenly from 2024–25: the four-school average rose 6 points in science, was nearly unchanged in ELA, and fell 1 point in math. West Hillsborough gained 18 points in science, while North Hillsborough declined in all three subjects. SchoolDigger awards all four schools five stars; its statewide ranks are 28th for Crocker Middle, 35th for North Hillsborough, 30th for South Hillsborough, and 106th for West Hillsborough. Elementary-school student–teacher ratios range from 14.0 at North to 15.3 at West. For 2024–25, all schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible: 5% at South and 3% at each of the others.
