Summary:
Five elementary schools in Charter Oak Unified serve kindergarten through grade 6. In 2025–26, their average proficiency was 53% in ELA and 46% in math, above state rates of 49% and 38%; in science, the average was 35%, just below the state’s 36%. Results varied considerably from school to school, but Washington Elementary was the clearest overall standout, leading the group in all three subjects.
Washington led with 67% in ELA, 66% in math and 57% in science—17, 28 and 21 percentage points above state results, respectively. Willow Elementary ranked second in ELA (58%) and math (49%), though its science result (35%) was just below the state rate. Glen Oak Elementary was above the state in ELA and math but below it in science. Cedargrove Elementary had the lowest all-grades result in each subject: 42% in ELA, 36% in math and 24% in science. At grade level, however, Willow and Badillo Elementary both had notably strong grade 3 results, including math rates of 78% and 61%, respectively, versus 47% statewide.
Results improved overall from 2024–25 to 2025–26, but individual schools followed different paths: Glen Oak rose 19 percentage points in science, while Cedargrove fell 10 points in that subject and Willow declined in ELA and math. SchoolDigger’s percentile ranking rose from 77 to 86 for Washington over three years; the other schools’ latest rankings ranged from 47 to 70. Context measures also differ: 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible rates ranged from 64% at Washington to 77% at Cedargrove, while student–teacher ratios ranged from 21.4 at Glen Oak to 24.7 at Cedargrove; these are context, not explanations for achievement differences.
