Summary:

Alpine Union Elementary includes five schools: four elementary schools and one middle school, with offerings spanning kindergarten through grade 8; Creekside Early Learning Center serves kindergarten only and has no test results. Because school grade spans differ, all-grades scores offer a broad overview rather than a direct comparison for every family. Across the four schools with 2025–2026 results, the clearest districtwide pattern is stronger performance relative to the state in math, but weaker performance in ELA: the average was 44% in math, 6 points above the state, and 45% in ELA, 4 points below.

Shadow Hills Elementary stands out at the top, leading the tested schools in all three subjects with 53% in ELA, 53% in math, and 53% in science, above state results in each. The clearest contrast is with Boulder Oaks Elementary: its science score was 22%, 14 points below the state and 31 points below Shadow Hills. Joan MacQueen Middle had the lowest ELA and math results, at 41% and 36%—8 and 2 points below the state. Mountain View Learning Academy had above-state all-grades math and science, but its grade 6 math result was just 8%, compared with 37% statewide.

Results shifted unevenly from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026: the group’s ELA average fell 2 points, math was nearly unchanged, and science was also nearly flat even as the state’s science score rose 3 points. School changes varied considerably: Shadow Hills science rose 11 points, while Boulder Oaks science fell 19. SchoolDigger rates Shadow Hills at the 73rd percentile with 4 stars, Boulder Oaks at the 49th percentile with 2 stars, and Joan MacQueen at the 52nd percentile with 3 stars; Mountain View’s latest listed rating is the 46th percentile with 2 stars for 2024–2025. All five schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025, ranging from 33% at Shadow Hills to 40% at Boulder Oaks; these are context, not an explanation of scores. Reported student-teacher ratios range from 18.9 at Joan MacQueen to 22.9 at Boulder Oaks.
