Summary:

The three schools in Penn Valley Union Elementary serve students from kindergarten through grade 12: Williams Ranch Elementary serves K–3, Ready Springs Elementary serves grades 4–8, and Vantage Point Charter serves K–12. The biggest area-wide concern is mathematics: the schools’ 2025–26 average was 26% proficient, compared with 38% statewide, and results ranged from 12% to 41%.

The strongest results vary by subject. Vantage Point led in ELA, with 60% proficient—16 percentage points above the other schools’ average—and in science, with 54%, 22 points above Ready Springs at 32%. It also had the lowest mathematics result, 12%, 26 points below the state. Williams Ranch led mathematics at 41%, while Ready Springs had the lowest ELA result, 44%, compared with 49% statewide. Because the schools serve different grade spans, these all-grades comparisons are not grade-matched; Vantage Point grade-level test results are unavailable.

Recent changes show that the schools are not following one shared trend. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, mathematics fell 13 points at both Williams Ranch and Ready Springs, while Vantage Point gained 7; the area’s average mathematics gap with the state widened by 7 points. Vantage Point also gained 15 points in ELA and 36 in science, though its enrollment is just 33. For context, its student-teacher ratio was 8.2 and 67% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–25; the other schools’ ratios were 18.6 at Ready Springs and 22.4 at Williams Ranch, with 57% eligible at each. SchoolDigger listed Ready Springs at the 31st percentile (2 stars) in 2025–26, down from the 64th percentile (3 stars) the year before; Williams Ranch’s latest listed result was the 88th percentile (4 stars) in 2023–24.
