Summary:

El Tejon Unified has three schools serving students from kindergarten through grade 12: Frazier Park Elementary serves K–4, El Tejon Elementary serves grades 5–8, and Frazier Mountain High serves grades 9–12. The clearest area-wide academic concern is math: in 2025–2026, all three schools were below the state result, averaging 27% proficiency compared with 38% statewide—an 11-point gap.

Frazier Mountain High stands out in all-grades ELA, with 67% proficient, 18 points above the state’s 49%; it also had the highest school math result, at 30%. At the other end, Frazier Park Elementary had the lowest ELA and math results: 27% and 24%, respectively, compared with state results of 49% and 38%. El Tejon Elementary had a grade-specific bright spot: 40% of its 7th graders were proficient in math, about 2 points above the state result for that grade. The high school also had favorable non-test outcomes in 2025–2026: graduation was 95% versus 88% statewide, and chronic absenteeism was 8% versus 18%.

Recent score changes were mixed, rather than showing a districtwide rise. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, Frazier Mountain High gained 10 points in both ELA and math, while Frazier Park Elementary fell 3 points in ELA and 9 in math; El Tejon Elementary gained 5 points in math. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking for Frazier Park Elementary fell from 39 in 2023–2024 to 19 in 2025–2026, while El Tejon’s rose from 39 to 44; rankings are not test-score changes. School context also differs: 2024–2025 student–teacher ratios ranged from 18.0 at Frazier Park to 21.1 at the high school, and free/reduced lunch eligible shares that year were 85%, 84%, and 75%, respectively. These figures describe context, not a cause of school results; the schools serve different grade spans, so all-grades comparisons are not same-grade comparisons.
