Summary:

Galt has 10 schools serving kindergarten through 12th grade: six elementary schools, one middle school and three high schools; nine have 2025–26 test results in the supplied data. Among the five elementary schools with scores, the average was 51% in ELA and 44% in math, above state figures of 49% and 38%, while science averaged 31%, below the state’s 36%. The two comprehensive high schools averaged 68% in ELA and 43% in science, both above state results, but 32% in math, below the state’s 38%. The clearest area-wide concern is elementary science and high-school math: both groups fell below state results in those subjects.

River Oaks Elementary led the reporting elementary schools in all three subjects, with 58% in ELA, 50% in math and 41% in science; Valley Oaks Elementary had the lowest elementary results in all three. Among comprehensive high schools, Liberty Ranch High led Galt High by 4 percentage points in ELA, 10 in math and 4 in science. Vernon E. Greer Elementary is a grade-level bright spot: its sixth-grade math result was 61%, compared with 37% statewide. At the other end, Estrellita Continuation High scored 5% in ELA, 2% in math and 4% in science, and chronic absenteeism was 56%, versus 14% at Liberty Ranch and 18% at Galt High.

Recent changes are mixed: Galt High improved in all three subjects from 2024–25 to 2025–26, by 4 percentage points in ELA, 4 in math and 2 in science, while Liberty Ranch declined by 7, 4 and 4 points. SchoolDigger’s three-year percentile ranking rose 12 points for River Oaks, from 61 to 73, and fell 11 for Liberty Ranch, from 87 to 76; these rankings are separate from test scores. Similar elementary enrollment and staffing ratios do not make results alike: the five reporting schools had 448–542 students and ratios of 21.0–23.5, while their 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible shares ranged from 50% to 69%; River Oaks led results, while Valley Oaks had the highest share. Comparisons across school types are limited because they serve different grade spans, and Estrellita’s continuation-school setting differs from the comprehensive high schools.
