Summary:
Beale AFB has two elementary schools serving kindergarten through grade five: Lone Tree Elementary (K–5, 305 students) and Wheatland Charter Academy (K–4, 89 students). In 2025–2026, both reported all-grades English language arts (ELA) and math results, while only Lone Tree reported science results. The clearest distinction is math: Wheatland Charter’s third-grade result was 60%, 16 percentage points above Lone Tree’s 44%.
Wheatland Charter Academy leads the two-school group in all-grades ELA and math, with 59% in ELA and 64% in math, compared with 55% and 50% at Lone Tree Elementary. Those are advantages of 5 points in ELA and 14 points in math; both schools exceeded California’s all-grades results of 49% in ELA and 38% in math. But the third-grade results show a shared ELA concern: both schools were below the state’s 44%, with Lone Tree at 38% and Wheatland Charter at 40%. Lone Tree’s reported science score was 55%, 19 points above the state’s 36%; there is no peer science score for comparison.
Recent results moved in different directions by subject. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, ELA fell 4 points at Lone Tree and 20 points at Wheatland Charter, while math rose 3 points at Lone Tree and was unchanged at Wheatland Charter; Lone Tree science rose 19 points. SchoolDigger’s historical rankings improved in the reported years: Lone Tree moved from the 67th to the 70th percentile, and Wheatland Charter from the 79th to the 92nd percentile, though the periods differ. The schools’ 2024–2025 student-teacher ratios were similar at 21.7 and 22.2, respectively. Both reported free/reduced lunch eligible as their low-income measure for 2024–2025: 49% at Lone Tree and 39% at Wheatland Charter. Because the schools serve different grade spans and Wheatland Charter’s fourth-grade results are suppressed, all-grades comparisons are not perfectly grade-matched.
