Horizon High School in Scottsdale serves 1,767 students in grades 7–12 in the Paradise Valley Unified District. Its test results are above Arizona averages, though they place it around the middle of nearby schools with reported scores. The clearest strength for families is graduation: 95% of students graduated in 2024–25, compared with 90% districtwide and 80% statewide.

Horizon’s all-grades ELA and math results beat both district and state averages, but do not lead the local comparisons. ELA proficiency was 60%, versus 54% in the district and 41% statewide; among five nearby schools with results, Horizon ranked third. Its 52% in math was also third of five, compared with 50% districtwide and 33% statewide. In science, results vary sharply by grade: 75% of Horizon’s eighth graders were proficient in 2024–25, well above the district’s 39% and the state’s 30%; among schools reporting 11th-grade results, Horizon’s 21% was second-lowest, below the district’s 27% and just above the state’s 19%. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking for how well the school serves African American students fell to the 21st percentile in 2022–23 from the 69th percentile the prior year, even as Horizon’s overall percentile rose from 81 to 90.
