Summary

Chandler Online Academy is a public virtual alternative school serving grades K-12 in the Chandler Unified District #80 in Arizona, with 353 students and a 3-out-of-5-star rating from SchoolDigger. The district as a whole is ranked 105 out of 289 districts in the state.

Chandler Online Academy has generally higher graduation rates, ranging from 63.0% to 91.8% over the past few years, compared to the state average of around 80%. Its dropout rates have also been lower, ranging from 2.3% to 6.1%, versus the state average of around 10%. Students at the school tend to perform better than the state average on standardized tests in subjects like English Language Arts and Mathematics, though their science proficiency lags behind. The school's spending per student has varied widely, from $1,814 to $12,609, likely due to its virtual nature and fluctuating enrollment. The student-teacher ratio has ranged from 10.5 to 19.2, which is generally lower than the state average of around 20 students per teacher.

Compared to some nearby virtual and alternative schools, such as GPS Global Academy and Primavera - Online, Chandler Online Academy performs better in terms of test scores and graduation rates. However, it lags behind more traditional public schools like Great Hearts Academies - Archway Chandler in academic performance. The variability in Chandler Online Academy's metrics suggests the school may face unique challenges in providing the same level of support and engagement as brick-and-mortar schools, highlighting the importance of a personalized approach to learning for online students.

Open Quote Way too easy for students to get A's as 80% scores based on online exam and there is no way to validate if same student is taking test or someone else. Also students can easily cheat during quizzes and test. No comparison from regular school. Close Quote
