Summary

Villa Montessori - Phoenix Campus serves 500 students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Phoenix, Arizona. Its latest reported AASA results are strong: 62% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA) and 52% in math, compared with 41% and 33% statewide. The clearest headline is that Villa had the highest reported all-grades results in both subjects among nearby K–8 schools.

Villa’s results also match those of its district, with no reported school–district score gap. Among six nearby K–8 schools with reported results, the averages were about 24% in ELA and 20% in math; Villa was 39 percentage points above the ELA average and 32 points above the math average. Still, strong overall scores do not mean every grade is equally strong. Third-grade math was 32%, 6 points below the state and 38 points below Self Development Academy-Phoenix at 70%. Fifth-grade ELA was 40%, just 2 points above the state and below Biltmore Preparatory Academy at 46%. By contrast, Villa’s middle- and upper-grade results were often among the strongest nearby.

Science is another strength: fifth-grade proficiency stayed at 58%, 57% and 58% from 2022–2023 through 2024–2025, while eighth-grade science rose from 57% in 2023–2024 to 77% in 2024–2025, 47 points above the state. SchoolDigger still places Villa above most nearby ranked schools, at the 66th percentile and 3 stars in 2025–2026, but its percentile has fallen 13 points from 2023–2024, when it had 4 stars. Villa’s 18.8 students per teacher is higher than the reported ratios at all nine nearby schools, which ranged from 7.4 to 17.4. SchoolDigger’s measure of how well the school serves White students also declined, from the 52nd percentile in 2023–2024 to the 27th in 2025–2026, compared with the school’s overall 66th percentile that year. Free/reduced-lunch rates were not reported for Villa or nearby schools.

Like the montessori style, but the school is lacking in basics. They have no foreign language as part of the daily class-time curriculum, which in today's day and age puts my kid at an extreme disadvantage. Plus, studies show the best time to learn a foreign language is when you are youngest. Was also disappointed with a lack of a real arts program (other than clay sculpting.) We ended up going with a preschool nearby, Little Big Minds, which teaches Spanish and feeds into a FREE public school, Biltmore Prep Academy that offers dual language education. We are very excited to have the opportunity for early language learning. Plus the traditional school also has a real art program. Close Quote

As a parent of two young children, I have one child that has been enrolled in Villa Montessori and another in a traditional public K-8 school. I clearly see a difference between the two and have to say that Villa is a well organized school focusing on the well being and development of their students. I look forward to transitioning my second child to Villa asap! I recommend to anyone even thinking of this school to take a tour and do their due diligence to find out more about the Montessori teachings as it's done wonders with the development of my daughter; both intellectually as well as boost her self-confidence.
