Tolleson Elementary District

Tolleson Elementary District has four elementary schools serving prekindergarten through eighth grade, and their 2025–26 all-grades results show that the area’s schools are below Arizona averages in both English language arts (ELA) and math. The schools average 28% proficiency in ELA, compared with 41% statewide, and 18% in math, compared with 33% statewide. The most important finding is that even the area’s strongest school remains below the state in both subjects.

Arizona Desert Elementary School leads the group overall, with 35% in ELA and 25% in math—9 percentage points ahead of the other schools’ average in each subject. Sheely Farms Elementary School is also a standout: it leads third-grade ELA and posts 42% in third-grade math, 4 points above the state’s 38%; it also has the highest eighth-grade ELA result, at 35%. At the other end, Desert Oasis Elementary School has the lowest all-grades results, 23% in ELA and 11% in math—12 and 14 points below Arizona Desert, respectively. Porfirio H. Gonzales Elementary School falls between them, at 24% in ELA and 15% in math.

SchoolDigger’s rankings show mixed movement over the three listed years: Sheely Farms rose from the 15th to the 27th percentile, while Desert Oasis fell from the 23rd to the 4th and Gonzales from the 19th to the 8th; Arizona Desert ended at the 35th percentile after reaching 46th. Across the four schools, the average ranking declined 4 percentile points, from about 23 to about 19. Other measures do not provide a simple guide to results: Gonzales has the lowest student–teacher ratio, 16.8, but scores below Sheely Farms, whose ratio is 17.3; Desert Oasis has the highest ratio, 21.2, and the lowest scores.
