Round Valley Unified District

Round Valley Unified District includes four schools serving students from preschool through grade 12, with 1,237 students listed: Round Valley Elementary (PK–5), Round Valley Middle (grades 5–8), Round Valley High (grades 9–12), and Round Valley AOI (K–12). Overall, reported math proficiency is the bigger concern relative to state results: the three schools with results average 26%, compared with 33% statewide, while their ELA average is 35% versus 41%. The most important takeaway is that results vary considerably by subject and school, rather than showing one consistent pattern across the district.

Round Valley Middle leads the reported all-grade ELA results at 40%, ahead of Round Valley High at 35% and Round Valley Elementary at 31%; Middle is 9 points above Elementary. High leads in math at 34%, 14 points above Middle’s 20%, the lowest reported all-grade math result; Elementary is at 23%. Compared with the state, Middle’s all-grade ELA is just 1 point lower, while its math is 13 points lower; High’s math is 1 point above the state. Grade-level results add important exceptions: Middle’s 7th-grade ELA is 50%, 7 points above the state, and High’s 11th-grade math is 34%, 3 points above. All three schools’ reported science results also exceed their grade’s state result, by 2 to 10 points.

SchoolDigger rankings have moved in different directions: from 2023–24 to 2025–26, Elementary fell from the 51st to the 35th percentile, High rose from the 41st to the 50th, and Middle stayed at the 47th after reaching the 55th in 2024–25. These are relative rankings, not changes in test scores; supplied proficiency results cover one year, and AOI’s are suppressed. Class-size indicators do not show a simple link with results: Middle has the lowest student–teacher ratio, 14, but the lowest reported all-grade math score, while High has the highest ratio, 16.7, and the strongest math result. AOI’s 2023–24 dropout rate of 13% also stands out against the district’s 4% that year, a 9-point difference.
