Riverside Elementary District

Riverside Elementary District has three schools serving grades PK–8 and 799 students: Riverside Traditional School (PK–4), Kings Ridge School (grades 2–8), and Maricopa Institute of Technology (MIT) (grades 7–8). In 2025–2026 all-grades results, MIT reported 79% proficiency in ELA and 54% in math, while the other schools reported 25–28% in ELA and 18–19% in math. The most important distinction is that MIT lifts the overall picture: without it, the other two schools average 27% in ELA and 19% in math, about 15 points below state results in each subject.

MIT is the clear standout: its results exceed the next-highest school by 51 points in ELA and 35 points in math, and SchoolDigger places it in the 92nd statewide percentile and awards five stars. The same-grade ELA comparison also favors MIT: it leads Kings Ridge by 69 points in grade 7 (93% versus 24%) and 44 points in grade 8 (69% versus 25%). Riverside Traditional and Kings Ridge are much closer overall; their ELA results differ by 3 points and their math results by 1 point. SchoolDigger ranks Riverside Traditional in the 10th percentile and Kings Ridge in the 37th. One bright spot for Kings Ridge is grade 6 ELA at 47%, 6 points above the state; its grade 6 math is 28%, 2 points below.

SchoolDigger rankings improved for Kings Ridge and MIT from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, but slipped slightly for Riverside Traditional: Kings Ridge rose 28 percentile points, MIT rose 5, and Riverside fell 2. These ranking changes do not show that proficiency scores improved; comparable multi-year proficiency results are not provided. The two larger schools have similar enrollments (381 and 371) and student–teacher ratios (18.1 and 18.5), while MIT enrolls 47 students and has a reported ratio of 47. The data show no simple link between enrollment or ratio and results, but they do highlight how different MIT’s reported outcomes are from those of the other schools.
