Summary

Piggott Elementary School in Piggott, AR, serves 484 students from Pre-K through 6th grade and is part of the Piggott School District, which has a 2-star rating and ranks 172nd out of 251 districts in the state.

Piggott Elementary stands out for its favorable socioeconomic profile, with only 29.75% of students eligible for free/reduced lunch—far lower than nearby Marmaduke Elementary School (62.7%) and Rector Elementary School (71.21%). The school also maintains a lower student-teacher ratio of 14.2:1, compared to 16.9:1 at Marmaduke and 18:1 at Rector, which can support more individualized attention. However, despite these advantages, Piggott's overall state ranking sits at the 48th percentile, and it spends less per student ($11,759) than its peers ($13,612 at Marmaduke, $13,959 at Rector).

Academically, Piggott shows a clear split: it performs at or above the state average in English Language Arts (42.1% vs. 39.4%) and Reading (43% vs. 40.4%), but struggles significantly in Mathematics, where only 33.7% of students are proficient compared to the state average of 44.1%. This math gap is most severe in early grades—just 24.5% of 3rd graders and 23.7% of 4th graders are proficient in math, far below state averages. In contrast, Marmaduke Elementary, despite higher poverty rates, outperforms Piggott in every subject, especially math (53.3% vs. 33.7%). This suggests Piggott may need to focus on strengthening its K-4 math instruction to better capitalize on its socioeconomic and class-size advantages.

Open Quote My step daughter attends Piggott elementary and I have never seen a school so disorganized and lacking in education! Looking at the test scores and overall rating of this school it is in need some major restructuring! My daughters went to Concord Elementary school in paducah Ky, You might want to look at our test scores. Schools should be be growing and increasing in all areas especially test scores! Piggott has termendously been falling faster and faster! What is the problem And there has to be a solution! These kids need to have the chance to become something in life and at the rate of this school they have no chance at all. I have been to this school I have delt with 2 abc school teachers and 2 kindergarten teachers and I was not impressed by any aspect of this school. My step daughter was in abc school 2 years and kindergarten 2 years. She will be advancing to 1st grade in August and she is not even close to being prepared for it. I do understand as a parent that it is our job to push our children and make them who they are not the school. As a school you should be worried about the lack of education each child is receiving. I truly hope you read my Email and choose to help these children and not over look them. They have been overlooked for many years now. Close Quote
