Summary

International Studies Magnet is a public elementary school in Jonesboro, Arkansas that serves grades 1-6 and is part of the Jonesboro School District. Despite serving a high-need student population with a 100% free and reduced lunch rate, this magnet school consistently outperforms the district and state in academic achievement.

In the most recent school year, International Studies Magnet ranked 137th out of 495 Arkansas elementary schools and maintained a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts (44.4%), Reading (42.6%), Mathematics (45.2%), and Science (46.1%) were significantly higher than the district and state averages. This strong academic performance sets International Studies Magnet apart from other nearby magnet schools, such as Math & Science Magnet School and Visual & Performing Art Magnet, which ranked lower in the state rankings.

The school's consistent high rankings and 4- or 5-star ratings over the past decade suggest that its educational approach and resources are effectively supporting student learning and achievement, despite the challenges of a high-need community. This provides a model for other schools in the Jonesboro School District and the neighboring Nettleton School District, which have lower-performing elementary schools, to learn from International Studies Magnet's successful strategies.

Open Quote I think it is the best elementary school in the Jonesboro area. The pricipal, teachers and support staff are very courteous and professional. You know it is the best school for your children from the moment you walk into the building. It is a very good enviornment for children to learn utilizing 2 computer labs, library, art, and music to learn about the world around us. It is #1 in my opinion. Close Quote
