Summary

Ringgold Elementary School in Benton, AR, is a public school serving 511 students from Pre-K through 4th grade as part of the highly-rated Benton School District.

Ringgold has experienced a notable academic decline in recent years, setting it apart from its district peers. While the school was once a strong performer, its state ranking has dropped significantly, and it now holds a 2-star rating. In contrast, nearby district schools like Caldwell Elementary, Mt. View Elementary, and Perrin Elementary are all ranked in the top 10% of the state and have earned 5-star ratings. For example, Caldwell’s English Language Arts proficiency rate (69.8%) is more than double Ringgold’s (32.9%). A key factor is the school's socioeconomic profile: 62% of Ringgold students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, a rate much higher than at its high-performing district neighbors. This challenge is shared by Angie Grant Elementary, another Benton school with similar demographics and test scores, though Ringgold spends less per student ($10,653 vs. $13,884).

Despite these challenges, there is a relative strength in mathematics, where 42.7% of students are proficient—the school’s highest subject score. Fourth-grade math, at 45.5% proficiency, is a particular bright spot. This suggests that targeted interventions in math may be working and could serve as a foundation for broader improvement. For parents, Ringgold offers a dedicated school community within a strong district, but it is important to be aware of the current academic trends and the school’s ongoing efforts to address them.

Open Quote I question the lack of a website per school and then by classroom. I should be able to get policy and handbook information, school calendar information, get homework assignments on line and email the teachers and school employees. I am a grandmother and want to keep track of special dates, projects, etc for my grandkids. In addition I would like to check grades. This information is available in other states and I find the total Benton School District lacking in access for parents and guardians. Close Quote
