Washington County High School in Chatom, AL, serves 395 students in grades 5 through 12 and is one of two high schools in the Washington County district. The school has seen a significant drop in its statewide ranking this year, falling to the 39th percentile after several years in the 63rd to 79th percentile range.

One of the most notable findings is the consistent academic gap between Washington County High and its in-district counterpart, McIntosh High School. Washington County High outperforms McIntosh across nearly all subjects and grade levels. For example, in 11th-grade English, Washington County had a 28.26% proficiency rate compared to McIntosh's 8.33%. The school also shows a clear strength in serving Special Education students, ranking 9th out of 194 schools statewide (95th percentile) with a 5-star rating in the 2024-2025 school year.
