Summary

Laceys Spring Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Laceys Spring, Alabama, with 289 students. The school is part of the Morgan County School District, which is ranked 49 out of 135 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Laceys Spring Elementary School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Alabama elementary schools over the past 10 years, with performance on state assessments generally below the Morgan County and Alabama averages across grade levels and subject areas. The school's performance is particularly weak in math, with proficiency rates declining from 3rd to 8th grade. However, the school's performance is stronger in English language arts, with proficiency rates generally higher than the county and state averages, especially in the lower grades.

The school faces other challenges, including high rates of chronic absenteeism and a student population with a high percentage of low-income families. While the nearby Cotaco School and Union Hill School have similar performance profiles, some schools in the nearby Huntsville City School District, such as GoldsmithSchiffman Elementary and Mountain Gap Elementary, have significantly higher academic performance and rankings, suggesting that location and district factors may play a role in a school's success.

Open Quote Lacey has wonderful teachers! The dedication that all of the teachers and staff have towards the students' academic growth is astonishing! I was a student at Lacey a few years ago, and I wouldn't trade it for any other school in Morgan County. I definitely recommend! Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers at this school are not friendly, to the point of rudeness. They will all gang up on you in meetings over very sensitive issues. They try to cram so much information in your child's developing minds that it drives them to tears and they do not retain it. Then they give so much homework that it upsets the whole family and causes fights. When this happens the child rebels and questions if you even love them. Then you are labelled a trouble maker or bad parent. Sick of it all. #laceysspringschool #sickofitall Close Quote
