Summary

Rolling Hills Elementary School is a public elementary school in Huntsville, Alabama, serving 537 students in grades PK-6 as part of the Huntsville City School District. Unfortunately, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom quarter of Alabama elementary schools over the past decade, receiving a 0 or 1 star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating it is one of the lower-performing schools in the state.

Rolling Hills Elementary School's academic performance is particularly concerning, as it lags behind the Huntsville City and Alabama state averages in the percentage of students proficient or better in mathematics, science, and English language arts across all grade levels. The school's proficiency rates are especially low in mathematics, with only 15-27% of students achieving proficiency compared to 33-45% at the state level. Additionally, the school has experienced high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 13.3% to 23.8% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average.

While the nearby schools in the Huntsville City School District, such as Blossomwood Elementary, Chapman Elementary, and Sonnie Hereford Elementary, generally outperform Rolling Hills Elementary School, the two magnet schools in the area, Academy for Academics and Arts Elementary and Academy for Science and Foreign Language, consistently demonstrate much higher proficiency rates and rankings, suggesting that higher-performing elementary schools are possible in the Huntsville area.

Open Quote Not the best, not the worst. We moved to this district this past year and were disappointed to look up the school and find it was not so great. However, it is apparent that it is a work in progress and they are striving to make it better. I will say the school has very involved parents who are enthusiastic about and devoted to all the children! Close Quote
