Summary

Midland City Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 457 students in grades PK-4 in Midland City, Alabama. The school is part of the Dale County School District, which is ranked 26 out of 135 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Midland City Elementary School's performance is generally below the district and state averages across grade levels and subject areas, with particularly low proficiency rates in science. However, the school performs better in English language arts, with 3rd and 4th grade proficiency rates above 65%. The school has also struggled with high chronic absenteeism rates, which may be contributing to its academic challenges. Interestingly, the school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with its African American and low-socioeconomic status students performing relatively well, while its male and special education students perform poorly.

When compared to nearby schools, such as Newton Elementary School, which is also in the Dale County School District, Midland City Elementary School underperforms across most academic measures. This suggests that there may be opportunities for Midland City to learn from the practices and strategies employed at the higher-performing Newton Elementary School. By addressing the key challenges identified, such as the needs of its underperforming student subgroups and improving attendance, Midland City Elementary School can work towards providing a more equitable and effective educational experience for all its students.

Open Quote Great Country School, I have noticed that they don't a lot of learning field trips. There are several that all ages could go on for example: Aplin Farms in October, Museum at Fort Rucker, Fun Zone Skating Center and many more. They also don't have a field day in May, they have a fun day which is during p.e. time and parents aren't aloud to come. other than that this school and it's staff is great. Close Quote
