Colony High School is a large public high school in Palmer, Alaska, serving about 1,046 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District, which is currently rated #6 of 23 districts statewide. Colony’s state ranking has ranged from top-20 placements in 2022–2024 to 30th in 2024–2025, and now sits 23rd of 62 Alaska high schools. Graduation, however, has been consistently strong: 91.5% in 2024–2025, well above the district’s 84.2% average.

Academically, the school’s strongest subject is science: nearly 48% of 10th graders scored proficient in 2025–2026, well above the state average of 33% and ahead of nearby Palmer High School (42.8%), Chugiak High School (40.3%), and Wasilla High School (32.4%). In 9th-grade reading and math, Colony also beats state and district averages, but math remains the biggest challenge, with only about 24% proficient.
