Summary

Bryn Mawr Elementary School is a public K-5 school serving 415 students in the Renton School District, which has shown a concerning decline in its statewide ranking over recent years.

Academically, the school performs below both district and state averages, with only about one-third of students proficient in core subjects like English and Math. This is despite the school having a favorable student-teacher ratio and receiving higher per-student funding than some nearby, higher-performing schools such as Kennydale Elementary School and Sartori Elementary School. The school serves a high-need population, with over 60% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, a rate much higher than many of its higher-achieving neighbors.

Performance varies significantly within the Renton School District, with schools like Sartori Elementary School achieving strong results while others, like Highlands Elementary School and Bryn Mawr, face greater challenges. Interestingly, Bryn Mawr has shown it can achieve excellence with specific student groups, but this success has not been consistent year-to-year or extended schoolwide. The school's situation highlights how educational outcomes can differ dramatically even between schools in close proximity and with similar resources.

Open Quote My experience with the school district has been very disturbing to a mother with a child who has a disability.

I'm shocked at the lack of concern and resources RSD has to offer.

I've been pro-active in all communications and meetings for my child.

My daughter has been singled out and out in a corner on a non student desk pictures taken without permission and lack of in school resources.

My child's 1st year of school has been a roller coaster and im afraid for what next year will bring.
ive reached out to the school district several times and im still not satisfied with the lack of empathy and action that has been taken to ensure my child has access to a good education.

Im not confident in my issues being solved by the Renton School District. Close Quote
