Summary

Meridian Elementary School is a public elementary school (PK-5) serving about 390 students in the Kent School District, consistently outperforming the district average in English, math, and science.

The school shows notable strengths in supporting specific student groups, with particularly high rankings for its English Language Learners and Special Education students in recent years. However, its overall state ranking has been volatile, dropping from the 72nd to the 63rd percentile this year, and it faces challenges like a significant performance gap between female and male students and a sharp decline in 5th-grade math scores. With the highest per-student spending among nearby schools, this volatility raises questions about how effectively those resources are being used to create stable, high-quality education for all.

Compared to other local options, Meridian is part of a higher-performing cluster with schools like Sunrise Elementary School, which achieves a higher ranking with lower spending. It stands in contrast to several struggling nearby schools, such as Meadow Ridge Elementary School and Millennium Elementary School. For families, Meridian represents a solid mid-to-high performing choice within its district, especially for those seeking strong support for special learning populations, though its year-to-year consistency is an area to watch.

Open Quote This school has an amazing Support Center program. The teachers there completely changed my daughters life. The staff at this school have the best hearts and are deffinitely there for the students. For a parent who originally didn't think that her daughter was going to make it to her sixth grade graduation is so proud to say that thanks to the staff at Meridian Elementary will now be able to watch her daughter graduate at the end of this year.
