Summary

Marvista Elementary is a public Pre-K through 5th grade school serving 532 students in Normandy Park, Washington, and stands out as a consistently high-performing school within the broader Highline School District.

Academically, Marvista significantly outperforms both its district and often the state average, with recent proficiency rates of 58% in English, 51% in Math, and 57.5% in Science. This success is particularly notable when compared to many neighboring schools in the same district, such as Bow Lake Elementary and Midway Elementary, which have much lower proficiency rates. The school has shown remarkable recent improvement in supporting students from low-income families, and it achieves these strong results with a per-student spending level that is efficient compared to some lower-performing area schools like Madrona Elementary.

Along with the nearby North Hill Elementary, Marvista serves as a high-achieving example within its district, demonstrating that excellent and equitable outcomes are possible. The school's stable, 3-star rating and its effective support for various student groups make it a compelling choice for families, highlighting the importance of school-specific culture and practices in student success.

Open Quote If you arent rich your child is discriminated against and it has always been that way...the staff there has a few exceptions but for the most part it is very discriminatory and has been for years. There is also no diversity so when the kids get older it is a big culture shock for them Close Quote
