Open Quote St. James Catholic School is one of the best academic schools in the Northern Virginia area. It obtained Blue Ribbon status in 1999, and has maintained it ever since. Most recently, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth search ranked St. James #4 in the state. The middle school offers 3 math tracks: pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry, as well as National Junior Honor Society. Beginning in 2012-2013, SJS will offer LabLearner, a 100% hands-on supplemental science program for K-8 with a fully equipped in-school lab in its dedicated science room. It has also purchased a new math series. In addition to the great teaching and spiritual training, SJS facilities are wonderful. It offers a light filled, spacious art room, a large music center with great acoustics, an up-to-date library, a state-of-the-art computer room, and a regulation size gym. Most important and best of all, my children love St. James and look forward to school every day! Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
