Summary

Indian Creek Elementary in San Antonio, TX, is a PK-5 school serving 573 students within the Southwest Independent School District (Isd), where the vast majority of students (89-95%) qualify for free or reduced lunch, reflecting a high-needs community.

The most exciting news for parents is the school’s strong upward trajectory. After a low point a few years ago, Indian Creek has climbed from the 10th percentile statewide to the 32nd percentile, showing clear and consistent improvement. This positive momentum is especially impressive when compared to nearby schools like Sky Harbour Elementary, which has dropped to the 18th percentile, or Hidden Cove Steam Academy, which has remained stagnant. A key driver of this success is a remarkable "5th Grade Effect"—fifth graders at Indian Creek are outperforming both the district and state averages in Reading and Math, a pattern not seen at most neighboring schools. This suggests a specific, effective strategy in the upper grades that the school can build upon.

Indian Creek also shows a notable strength in serving its most vulnerable students. Its Special Education program ranks in the 53rd percentile statewide, a "3-star" rating and the school’s highest-performing subgroup. While the school still faces challenges, particularly in 3rd and 4th grade Reading and in 5th-grade Science, it is holding its own against direct peers in the Southwest ISD, outperforming Medio Creek Elementary and Hidden Cove Steam Academy. For parents, this is a school that is clearly on the rise, with dedicated efforts that are beginning to pay off for its students.

Open Quote My community is considered low-income, including myself as I am a college student and single mother taking care of my kids by myself financially. With that being said I do not appreciate an employee(the blonde counselor) of Hidden Cove Elementary making unnecessary comments such as my house looks like no one lives there, looks deserted, no one answered the door, hmm no one answered the door is probably because I was at school furthering my education! You work with kids and are an adult so you SHOULD know not to make those kind of comments. That's not the worst part, the worst part where you messed up is saying that IN-FRONT of my child! Rubbing your income in peoples faces is something that you just DON'T DO. When I was in elementary school, I was taught "If you don't have anything nice to say than don't say anything at all." HELLO, we as adults are supposed to be that leading example. The principal said she would talk to her but I don't know if she really did. Close Quote
