Summary

Morton Ranch High School is a public high school located in Katy, Texas, serving 2,832 students in grades 9-12. It is part of the Katy Independent School District, which is ranked 172 out of 961 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Morton Ranch High School has maintained a strong 93-94% 4-year graduation rate and low dropout rate, its overall academic performance tends to lag behind many of its neighboring schools in the Katy ISD. The school typically ranks in the middle to lower range of Texas high schools, with a SchoolDigger rating fluctuating between 2-3 stars out of 5 in recent years. Its STAAR EOC test scores are generally below the district and state averages, with the largest gaps in Algebra I and English I/II Reading. However, the school's Gifted and Talented program is a bright spot, ranking in the top 10% of Texas high schools in this category.

Interestingly, Morton Ranch High School performs relatively well for its Special Education students, ranking in the top 25% of Texas high schools in this category. However, the school struggles with its Asian, White, and Multi-racial student groups, ranking in the bottom half or bottom third of Texas high schools for these subgroups. This disparity in performance may be linked to the school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, around 70%, which is likely a significant factor in its relatively lower academic outcomes compared to more affluent neighboring schools like Cinco Ranch High School and Taylor High School.
