Summary

Lovett Elementary is a highly performing public school in Houston's Meyerland area, serving 700 students from Pre-K through 5th grade as part of the Houston Independent School District (Isd). This school stands out for its consistent top-tier state ranking, placing in the 85th percentile statewide, and its ability to deliver strong academic results across a diverse student body, with about 40% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.

Lovett's academic excellence is broad and deep, with proficiency rates in Reading and Math increasing from 3rd to 5th grade, culminating in 5th-grade scores of 81.82% in Reading and 70.71% in Math. This performance is particularly impressive when compared to nearby schools like Braeburn Elementary, where 5th-grade proficiency rates were only 26.96% in Reading and 32.76% in Math. While Horn Elementary and Condit Elementary rank slightly higher overall, Lovett serves a more economically diverse population, making its achievement especially noteworthy. The school also excels for specific student groups, with multi-racial students ranking in the 99th percentile statewide and Asian students in the 97th percentile.

However, recent data shows a slight dip in overall ranking from 5-star to 4-star status, with notable declines in performance for Hispanic students, low socio-economic status students, and English Language Learners. Additionally, while Lovett excels in Reading and Math, its 5th-grade Science scores (53.77%) are not as dominant as its other subjects, suggesting a potential area for growth. For families in the area, Lovett represents a fantastic "Tier 1" option that offers a more economically diverse environment than its highest-performing peers while still delivering exceptional academic results, making it a clear standout among schools like Parker Elementary and Herod Elementary.

Open Quote My son began in Owl's Nest Pre-K at Lovett and is in Kindergarten this year. We have been very pleased with the teachers, facilities, staff, student diversity, extra-curricular offerings, and community feel of the school. We purchased our home knowing we were zoned here, and plan to send all three of our children to Lovett. Close Quote
