Summary

Bradfield Elementary is a top-tier school in Dallas, TX, serving 578 students from Pre-K through 4th grade within the Highland Park Independent School District (Isd), which is ranked #1 in the state. This school consistently ranks in the top 1% of all Texas elementary schools, with recent data placing it 51st out of 4,627 schools statewide. A standout feature is its exceptional support for Special Education students, ranking 10th out of 3,549 schools for this subgroup, showing that high performance extends to all learners. Reading proficiency is a major strength, with 93% of 3rd graders and 88% of 4th graders meeting standards—roughly 40 percentage points higher than the state average.

While Bradfield excels, it faces unique dynamics compared to its peers. In math, 4th-grade proficiency (79.8%) is the lowest among nearby Highland Park Independent School District (Isd) schools like Armstrong Elementary (88.5%) and University Park Elementary (83.0%), suggesting a relative weakness in math instruction. Additionally, its Gifted and Talented program, while still strong, ranks lower than other subgroups, hinting that overall scores are driven more by general and special education populations. Nearby, Dallas Independent School District (Isd) schools like Solar Preparatory School For Girls At Bonham offer a compelling contrast, achieving competitive reading scores (88% in 3rd grade) despite being in a lower-performing district.

Bradfield’s per-student spending ($10,740) is lower than many struggling Dallas Independent School District (Isd) schools, such as Personalized Learning Preparatory At Sam Houston ($16,236), challenging the idea that more spending guarantees better outcomes. The school’s state ranking has slightly declined from its peak of 9th in 2021 to 51st, while Armstrong Elementary has climbed, now ranking higher. Despite this, Bradfield remains an elite choice, offering a strong, inclusive academic environment in a highly affluent area with 0% free/reduced lunch rates.

Open Quote As a parent of 2nd grader at Bradfield, I think the school is wonderful. The teachers are the best around and the school has above average components for special needs children. I have read many parents posts on similar sites complaining about the stuffiness of the women who drop their children off in fancy cars and wearing fancy clothes, etc., and all I can say is who cares? The curriculum is great, teachers are attentive and they care very much about the students. The simple fact this school is in an affluent area dictates much of the flavor, however, does anyone really care. I take my child to school every day, and sometimes laugh at the plastic nature of the mothers who consort about the campus but in the end, my child is getting a great education. Close Quote
