Summary

Boude Storey Middle in Dallas, TX, is a public school serving 379 students in grades 6-8 within the Dallas Independent School District (Isd), and it faces significant academic challenges, ranking in the 3rd percentile statewide for the 2025-2026 school year.

This school is the lowest-performing middle school in its immediate area, with math proficiency rates that are alarmingly low. For example, only about 11% of 6th graders and 9% of 8th graders were proficient in math in the most recent year, a stark contrast to nearby Hector P Garcia Middle, where over 61% of 8th graders met that benchmark. While the school spends a relatively high $12,399 per student, this investment has not translated into strong results, especially when compared to W E Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy, a nearby school with a similarly high-poverty population that outperforms Boude Storey in nearly every subject, including 8th-grade reading (73.78% vs. 29.75% proficient). This comparison shows that high poverty does not have to dictate low performance.

There are a few notable, but volatile, exceptions. The school has shown a puzzling ability to produce strong Algebra I scores for a small group of students—52.63% were proficient in 2025-2026—even as the vast majority of 8th graders fail to master grade-level math. Additionally, the school was once a standout for its Special Education students, ranking in the 94th percentile in 2023-2024, but that performance has since collapsed to the 6th percentile. Overall, the school's trajectory is declining, with proficiency rates in core subjects like 6th-grade reading (30.49%) and math (10.98%) reaching some of the lowest levels on record, making it a school that requires careful consideration for families.

Open Quote After being a low performing school for the last 7 years, last year Boude Storey made AYP. For 2010- 2011 school-year, Boude Storey M. S. was ranked 39 among 40 schools in Division 4. Last year the school made it to the first place, which means that it was the school that showed the highest progress in Division 4. Parents and teachers comment about remarkable effrots this administration is doing to establish the much needed relationships among students, teachers and parents. Students' discipline issues have been reduced considerably. According to many parents and students, they feel the school is improving in all areas. The school vision is to become a "premier" school in Dallas Independent School District, which is a rather ambitious vision, albeit not impossible. As a community, we need to help this school achieve the goals set: Improve students' academic achievement; broaden parent involvement; and increase school pride and spirit. Teachers working at Boude Storey are among the best in the district; these noble professionals are bending over backwards to help the students be ready for their next steps in life. We will be looking forward to 2012-2013 scores to see if the school can achieve its academic goals. I will be posting a comment around August-September 2013 on the new school scores. Keep it up Eagles! Close Quote
