Open Quote The School Environment: Overall I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming environment from the staff to the kiddos. Each day I lose count on all of the sweet greetings. At the end of the day, I see cheerful kids that say goodbye and have a good day as well as the staff across all grade levels. This shows me that the kids feel welcome here and that they are excited to return tomorrow.
Community Environment: The community is very supportive and the parents and staff love working together to make things happen for the kids. I know in previous years there were many family nights and clubs. This year, due to the pandemic, precautions have not stopped but simply temporarily altered afterschool activities for communities to get involved in. This has been an opportunity to do outreaches in a different way. They didn't let the pandemic stop our school spirit or celebrations. Book parades were done virtually, we had drive through fall and spring festivals, we had read-a-thons and book fairs virtually, as well as parents joining in on virtual awards ceremonies. I have also seen more collaboration than ever before between parents and teachers. During a freeze, electrical outages, and water boil shutdown across the city the school even provided pizzas for each family in hopes to assist the families going through tough times.
Classroom Environment: The classroom environment has been blessed with so many incredible resources. For example, each student has their own device to use as a resource to further their educational experience with all of these programs that the kids are excited to get on to challenge themselves in a fun way. These programs target areas that each individual student specifically needs and therefore their learning experience is tailored specifically to them and no longer the one size fits all approach like education was years ago. It is so nice to see kids eager and excited to go to school and to watch them grow despite all of the obstacles that the pandemic has brought. I feel like this whole experience has only made us stronger, work better as a team, and has given us all an update on our technical skills. It has been a fun learning experience to watch this campus work through the Covid year. Can't wait to see what it is like once the pandemic lightens up. Close Quote
