Summary

Corey Fine Arts / Dual Language Academy is a K-5 magnet school in the Arlington Independent School District (Isd) serving 497 students, combining a Fine Arts focus with a Spanish/English Dual Language program to create a unique and high-performing academic environment in south Arlington.

Corey consistently ranks in the top 15-20% of Texas elementary schools, currently placing in the 89th percentile statewide. Its test scores dramatically outpace the district average—for example, 5th-grade reading proficiency reaches 93.33%, compared to roughly 55% at nearby Moore Elementary and 44% at Wood Elementary. Even Ditto Elementary, a solid performer in the 72nd percentile, trails Corey by 10-15 percentage points in every grade and subject. The school is exceptionally effective with students from low-income backgrounds, ranking in the 94th percentile for this group, and also excels with Hispanic students (93rd percentile) and special education students (87th percentile). This "magnet effect" attracts motivated families, resulting in a lower poverty rate (32.8%) than neighborhood schools like Key Elementary (81.84%) or Little Elementary.

Corey achieves these results with moderate per-student spending ($9,754), outperforming schools with higher funding like R F Patterson Elementary ($11,378) in the Kennedale Independent School District (Isd). Its performance also rivals or exceeds Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy in the higher-ranked Mansfield Independent School District (Isd). For families zoned to lower-performing schools, Corey offers a dramatically different educational opportunity—a 5th grader here has a 93% chance of reading proficiency versus 44-67% at nearby alternatives. The Dual Language program is a clear asset, fostering biliteracy and driving strong reading scores across all grades.

Open Quote Corey has been a fabulous experience for my two boys! My oldest already knows more Spanish than me by 3rd grade and they are thriving in math, science, and the arts. The programs and activities they have are top notch and we've been very pleased by the external resources they bring out to facilitate learning for the kiddos. We feel like the program itself is more difficult than most elementary schools around, but it's not unnecessarily burdensome to our family. Ultimately, what matters most is that our kids have learned so much, love their teachers, don't have to worry about bullying, and are happy! Close Quote
