Summary

Martin High School in Arlington, TX, is a large comprehensive high school serving 3,535 students in grades 9-12 within the Arlington Independent School District (Isd), and it stands out as the top-performing traditional high school in the district with a 4-star rating and a 70th percentile statewide rank.

Martin High School excels in keeping students on track, boasting a 95.4% graduation rate and an impressively low 0.7% dropout rate—both significantly better than the district average and surpassing nearby schools like Arlington High School (85.3% graduation rate). The school consistently outperforms state averages in core subjects like Biology, English, and U.S. History, and it serves its English Language Learner students exceptionally well, ranking in the 81st percentile statewide. However, there are areas for improvement: Algebra I proficiency (49.78%) lags behind the state average, and the school's Gifted and Talented students have seen a significant drop in performance, ranking in only the 30th percentile. Additionally, the school achieves strong results with a relatively modest per-student spending of $8,334, suggesting efficient use of resources compared to other area schools.

For parents considering Martin High School, it offers a stable, high-achieving environment with a strong track record of student success and retention. While it may not provide the same specialized focus as the nearby Arlington College And Career High School (which achieves higher test scores with a smaller, more targeted population), Martin's comprehensive programs and consistent performance make it a reliable choice. The school's main challenges—Algebra I and support for high-achieving students—are clear areas where parents may want to seek additional enrichment or tutoring to ensure their child reaches their full potential.

Open Quote This school is complete tripe, I have went here for four years, and never once have I learned anything useful at all. Now I am attending Venture Alternative High School in hopes of maybe catching up with my friends, all of whome are graduating while I am 11 Credits behind. Thanks Martin High School. Close Quote

Open Quote I've had a couple of good teachers and made some good friends, but that's where the positive stuff ends. Discipline is lacking. Counselors don't counsel. Recently, the principal taught a regular class as part of an experiment, and nobody recognized her to be the principal! I think this suggests how involved the principals are. I dislike going to school everyday. Most teachers here are burnt out, and only show up for a paycheck. Also, there's the whole rich-kid snobbery thing going on. You need money here to succeed, whether that be in academics or sports. I'm a senior this year, and I long for graduation. Most of my education I earned through this school was either by accident, or in spite of this school. Thanks Martin High School. Close Quote
