Open Quote We have done homeschooling and public school in our district. We are now attending online public school through Connections Academy. Online school gives you the best of both worlds. You do school at home, but you are still in public school for the free curriculum, teachers and resources. Every day my 6th graders checks his calendar for what he needs to learn and accomplish. Learning is done through live webinars with his teachers, videos online, and brainpop clips ( Animated Science, Health, Technology, Math, Social Studies, Arts & Music and English movies, quizzes, activity pages and school homework help for K-12 kids) and through the free books they send you. My son takes his quizzes and tests online. He submits projects through email, power point and home video. He was able to take Mandarian Chinese with a Chinese teacher who he spoke live with over his webinar. Also available is sign language. He still does local state testing, which is administered through Connections at a local college. We have a very lively group of local Connections kids that have tons of field trips. I have 5 kids on my street that attend Connections. My son tested above his grade level in Math, so he is in a 7th grade math, but 6th grade for the rest of his classes. I would highly encourage any homeschooler or parent of public school child that wishes to have their child home for whatever reason to look into this school. Close Quote
