Summary

Oakleigh Elementary is a public elementary school in Baltimore, Maryland, serving 527 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools district, which is ranked 17th out of 25 districts in the state.

Oakleigh Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Maryland elementary schools, with a 1-star or 2-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating below-average performance. The school faces significant challenges, including high chronic absenteeism rates, low academic proficiency rates across all grade levels and subject areas, and underperformance of student subgroups compared to state averages. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, Oakleigh's proficiency rates were 19.5% in Mathematics and 28.3% in English Language Arts, compared to 26.5% and 50.8% for the state, respectively.

Interestingly, Oakleigh Elementary's performance is generally lower than nearby schools within the Baltimore County Public Schools district, such as Halstead Academy, Cromwell Valley Elementary Regional Magnet, and Carney Elementary. Despite increased spending per student and a lower student-teacher ratio, Oakleigh's academic outcomes have not shown a corresponding improvement, highlighting the need for targeted interventions and support to address the underlying factors contributing to the school's underperformance.

Open Quote Terrible school. My child been getting bullied all year and they won’t do anything to stop it at all. The principal needs to be fired for this school to improve. She has no heart to allow a child to be hit in the face and do nothing about it. And my son was hit in the face alone over 5x.. so you can see the picture .Do not send your child here!!
