Rosepine Elementary stands out for its exceptional academic performance, particularly in English Language Arts (89% proficiency) and Social Studies (68% proficiency), where it significantly outperforms nearby schools like Parkway Elementary School and West Leesville Elementary School. The school is especially effective with its economically disadvantaged students—over 65% qualify for free/reduced lunch—ranking in the 82nd percentile for this subgroup, a stark contrast to West Leesville Elementary School, which serves a similar population but ranks in the bottom quartile overall. Additionally, Rosepine’s Special Education students rank in the 75th percentile, showing strong support for diverse learners. However, chronic absenteeism has risen sharply from 4.9% in 2021-2022 to 30.8% in 2024-2025, now higher than the state average and peers like Pickering Elementary School (23.3%), which could pose future challenges.

An interesting finding is Rosepine’s dominance in Social Studies across all tested grades, suggesting a highly effective curriculum. The school also excels with Military-Connected students, ranking in the 77th percentile, while its White students rank lower at the 59th percentile. This performance, within the Vernon Parish district, demonstrates that Rosepine is beating the odds by delivering high-quality education regardless of student background, making it a top choice for families seeking strong academic outcomes and targeted support programs.

Open Quote My son goes to Rosepine Elementary School and he enjoyes it very much. He gets along with the teachers great. All the teachers that he has had have really enjoyed having him in their class. He is a straight A student. Even I went to Rosepine High School from 1993 to 1996. This was the school that I chose for him due to the fact that I didnt have any problems or issues. Keep up the good work Rosepine. Close Quote
