Summary

Fairdale Elementary is a public magnet elementary school located in Fairdale, Kentucky, serving grades K-5 with a total enrollment of 623 students. The school is part of the Jefferson County school district, which is ranked 140 out of 157 districts in Kentucky and is rated 1 out of 5 stars by SchoolDigger.

Fairdale Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Fairdale Elementary Kentucky elementary schools over the past several years, with its statewide ranking ranging from 356 to 570 out of around 700 schools. The school has maintained a 1 or 2-star rating from SchoolDigger during this time period, indicating below-average performance compared to other schools in the state. This is largely due to the school's low proficiency rates in core subjects like Mathematics, Reading, and Science, which are significantly lower than the Jefferson County and Kentucky state averages across all grade levels. Additionally, Fairdale Elementary has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 25% to 38% over the past few years, which are significantly higher than the state average.

Interestingly, the nearby schools in the Jefferson County district, such as Okolona Elementary, Blue Lick Elementary, and Kenwood Elementary, generally outperform Fairdale Elementary on academic measures, despite serving similar student populations. This suggests that factors beyond just student demographics, such as school leadership, instructional practices, and resource allocation, may be contributing to the differences in performance. Additionally, the only non-Jefferson County school in the vicinity, Brooks Elementary in the Bullitt County district, also serves a high-poverty student population and has similar performance to Fairdale Elementary, indicating that the challenges faced by the school may be more systemic in nature.

Open Quote My son has went to Fairdale ever since he was in Kindergarten, he is now in the 3rd grade. I love this school because my son needs the extra help that some students does not and the staff here are so nice and helpful. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter has excelled at Fairdale. Every time I walk in, I am greeted with a smile. The teachers really care about their students, and in our case, have gone above and beyond all expectations. They have done so much to advance her academic career. She was reading on a 2nd grade level in Kindergarten, and her teachers helped keep her from getting bored by giving her higher level sight words, until they were pulling words from a 6th grade list. I will always love Fairdale Elementary for everything they have done! Close Quote
