Summary

Tri-Cities High School is a public high school located in East Point, Georgia, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,774 students. The school is part of the Fulton County School District, which is ranked 47th out of 206 districts in Georgia and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Tri-Cities High School consistently underperforms compared to the Fulton County and Georgia state averages on the Milestones Assessments, with proficiency rates ranging from 9% in United States History to 23.2% in Biology, while the Fulton County and Georgia state averages were significantly higher. The school's four-year graduation rates have also been relatively low, ranging from 84.4% to 90.7% over the past few years, which is below the state average. Additionally, Tri-Cities High School has a 100% free and reduced lunch rate, indicating a high-poverty student population. Despite the high spending per student, ranging from $11,167 to $12,758 over the past few years, and a relatively low student-teacher ratio, the academic results suggest that these efforts may not be as effective as desired.

When comparing Tri-Cities High School to the nearby Atlanta Public Schools district, it becomes evident that the school is underperforming academically. For example, Booker T. Washington High School, Kipp Atlanta Collegiate Charter School, and Benjamin E. Mays High School all have higher proficiency rates on the Milestones Assessments and higher graduation rates than Tri-Cities High School. Addressing the challenges faced by Tri-Cities High School will require a comprehensive and collaborative approach to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed.

Open Quote I am a grandparent of a former Visual Arts student in the Magnet program. I was very involved with the teachers and Director of the Magnet program. There is so much talent in that school that I returned as a volunteer to help our kids. The teachers are bringing out the talents that they have and we as parents have to be there to help steer them in the right direction. Communication with the teachers and those in charge is essential. Talking with the kids is essential as well. Tri-Cities encourages the parents to come up to the school and to see for themselves what is going on. I have faith in Tri-Cities. I invite the community to visit and judge for yourself. After all our kids are our future. When they see the parents and community behind them they see something positive.

Open Quote I think Tri-Cities is a great school. The teachers and parents are very supportive and we have a great group of students who do their very best to raise the integrity of the program. We have come a long way to be well known in the arts community and I applaude the effort generated by our teachers, parents and students. Close Quote
