Summary

Heathrow Elementary School in Lake Mary, FL, is a high-performing public school serving 713 students in grades PK through 5 within the Seminole County School District, consistently ranking in the top 10% of Florida elementary schools over the past decade.

Heathrow Elementary stands out for its exceptional academic performance, particularly in math and science. In the 2025-2026 school year, math proficiency rates were 88% for 3rd grade, 89% for 4th grade, and 79% for 5th grade—far exceeding district averages and more than double the 5th-grade math scores at nearby schools like Woodlands Elementary (39%) and Lake Mary Elementary (36%). Science is another major strength, with 86% of 5th graders proficient, compared to 72% district-wide and 60% statewide. This is the highest science score among comparable area schools, including Sabal Point Elementary (81%) and Woodlands (83%). The school also boasts a low chronic absenteeism rate of 14.5%, significantly better than the district average of 25.3% and far lower than schools like Idyllwilde Elementary (36.3%).

Heathrow’s success is notable given its efficient use of resources, spending $9,780 per student—less than many lower-performing neighbors such as Wicklow Elementary ($14,475 per student). The school has shown resilience since the pandemic, recovering from a ranking dip to reach the 96th percentile statewide in 2024-2025. While a drop in 5th-grade math proficiency is common across the area, Heathrow’s scores remain the highest among peers. For parents seeking a school with strong academics, engaged families, and a positive culture, Heathrow Elementary is a standout choice in the Lake Mary area.

Open Quote I am utterly floored over the awful service I just received while trying to arrange for my daughter's transfer. Absolutely horrible. Im not allowed to do anything ahead of time, so they are basically forcing my daughter to miss skill for an undetermined amount of time. Absolutely absurd. I had heard that Lake Mary schools were so much better than the ones in Baltimore MD. My first experience sure doesn't support that. The rep clearly didn't want to have to speak to me and seemed like she didn't care at all about anything I had to say. Close Quote

Open Quote I am impressed with the schools faculty and staff. We are getting a new principal for the upcoming school year, so hopefully it will stand tall! To have so many students of various cultural backgrounds, the students/staff are commended for sharing their traditions and keeping things neutral. Close Quote
