Tradewinds Middle School is a public magnet school located in Greenacres, Florida, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 852 students. The school is part of the Palm Beach School District, which is ranked 38 out of 67 districts in Florida and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger. Tradewinds Middle School has consistently been ranked in the bottom half of Florida middle schools, with a ranking between 673 and 1011 over the past 10 years, and a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger for most of that time period.

Tradewinds Middle School has several key metrics that differentiate it from nearby schools. The school has had high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.4% to 31.4% over the past few years, which are significantly higher than the Palm Beach district and Florida state averages. Additionally, Tradewinds Middle School's test scores are consistently lower than the Palm Beach district and Florida state averages across various subjects and grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, Tradewinds had only 35-51% of students proficient in FAST English Language Arts and Math, compared to 56-65% for the Palm Beach district and 55-60% for the state. The school also has a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 65.38% to 89.52% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the nearby schools such as Emerald Cove Middle School, Christa McAuliffe Middle School, and Woodlands Middle School.

Despite the relatively high spending per student at Tradewinds Middle School, ranging from $10,911 to $15,383 over the past few years, the school's academic performance is still lagging behind the nearby schools. This suggests that simply increasing funding may not be the sole solution, and that the school may need to examine how resources are being allocated and utilized to support student learning. Additionally, the school's magnet status does not seem to be translating into improved academic outcomes for students, as the performance is not significantly better than the nearby traditional public schools. Further investigation and targeted interventions may be necessary to improve the academic outcomes for students at Tradewinds Middle School.
