Summary

Prairie Lake Elementary is a public school in Orlando, FL, serving 776 students from Pre-K through 5th grade within the Orange district, and it has recently emerged as a standout performer in its area.

Prairie Lake Elementary is currently the highest-ranked school among its immediate neighbors, achieving a 3-star rating and placing in the 63rd percentile statewide for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a remarkable turnaround from just two years prior, when it was a 2-star school in the 36th percentile. The school now outperforms nearby schools like Ridgewood Park Elementary (20th percentile), Hiawassee Elementary (31st), and Spring Lake Elementary (17th) by a wide margin. A key strength is its consistent academic excellence: Prairie Lake is the only school in the immediate area to score at or above the district average in every tested subject and grade level, including 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade ELA and Math, as well as 5th grade Science. Its 3rd-grade math proficiency (72%) is notably higher than all nearby schools, including the next best, Citrus Elementary (69%).

The school’s improvement is also reflected in its financial efficiency, spending $11,183 per student—significantly less than lower-performing neighbors like Pinewood Elementary ($14,812) and Lake Gem Elementary ($14,445)—while achieving superior results. While chronic absenteeism has been a challenge, it has dropped dramatically from a peak of 42.1% in 2021-2022 to 27.4% in 2023-2024, which is better than the district average of 35.2%. This positive trend, combined with a sharp drop in the free/reduced lunch rate from 59% to 49%, suggests a school on a strong upward trajectory that is delivering excellent value for families.

Open Quote Excellent school, clubs, clubs and more clubs. Kids are fully vested in the school as well as teachers in the kids. It's a shame the ranking it gets. It's a great school. Close Quote

Open Quote Not sure where these rankings are coming from but Clarcona Elementary doesn't rank 2 out of 5. This school is one of the most stable schools when it comes to teachers/administration. They have an outstanding program and they are only a handful of elementary schools that hold accredidation status. Close Quote
