Summary

International Studies Charter High School is a small, high-performing charter school in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, serving 376 students in grades 9-12 and consistently ranking among the top high schools in Florida. This school stands out for its remarkable academic results, achieving a perfect 100% graduation rate for three consecutive years and earning a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for nearly a decade. With 88% of 10th graders proficient in English Language Arts and 85% proficient in Geometry, the school dramatically outperforms nearby traditional schools like Miami Senior High School, where only 58% of 10th graders are proficient in ELA and 47% in Geometry. Even compared to other charter schools, International Studies excels—its 88% proficiency in US History far exceeds the district average of 76% and the state average of 74%.

What makes this success even more impressive is the school's efficiency and student engagement. International Studies spends just $9,492 per student, significantly less than nearby high-performing charters like Mater Brickell Academy High ($13,528) and elite schools like Young Women's Preparatory Academy ($15,573). Despite serving a predominantly low-income student body—with over 60% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch—the school's chronic absenteeism rate of 14.4% is less than half the Miami-Dade district average of 28.2%. This low absenteeism rate, combined with high test scores and a perfect graduation rate, shows a school culture that keeps students engaged and on track for success.

For parents comparing options, International Studies Charter High School offers a compelling choice. It dramatically outperforms nearby schools like Booker T. Washington Senior High (where only 37% of 10th graders are proficient in ELA and chronic absenteeism is 58.3%) and Green Springs High School (with a 72.5% chronic absenteeism rate). While Law Enforcement Officers Memorial High School and Sports Leadership Arts Management Charter High School have respectable scores, International Studies consistently leads in key metrics. This school proves that a focused, efficient charter can achieve outstanding results for all students, regardless of background.
