Summary

New World School Of The Arts in Miami, FL, is a public magnet high school serving 451 students in grades 9 through 12, located in the downtown area of the Miami-Dade district. This specialized arts school stands out as a top performer, ranking 51st out of 838 high schools in Florida (top 6%) for the 2025-2026 school year, with a perfect 100% graduation rate for five consecutive years—far exceeding the district average of 93.1% and state average of 92.2%.

Academically, NWSA achieves exceptional proficiency rates that are dramatically higher than nearby schools. In English Language Arts, 93% of 10th graders and 92% of 9th graders are proficient, roughly 30 percentage points above the district average (63%) and significantly higher than Mater Brickell Academy (77% and 78%). Science and history scores are near-universal, with 96% proficiency in Biology 1 and US History, compared to 62-78% at schools like Booker T. Washington Senior High and Mater Lakes Collegiate Academy High School. Math scores, while still above state averages, are less dominant (65% in Algebra 1, 73% in Geometry) and are surpassed by Mater Brickell Academy (84% and 86%). Chronic absenteeism is remarkably low at 11.2%, less than half the district average (28.2%) and a fraction of the state average (31.4%), contrasting sharply with Booker T. Washington (58.3%) and Mater Lakes (45.6%).

Interestingly, NWSA shares its address with School For Advanced Studies-Wolfson, a small, highly selective program for 11th and 12th graders that also boasts a 100% graduation rate and near-zero chronic absenteeism (4.4%). This co-location creates a unique academic hub where arts-focused and academically accelerated models of excellence operate side-by-side. NWSA’s per-student spending ($15,520) is in line with nearby schools like Booker T. Washington ($15,174) and Law Enforcement Officers Memorial High School ($15,428), yet its outcomes are vastly superior, suggesting that success stems from its specialized, high-expectation environment rather than higher funding. The school’s consistent top-tier performance over the past decade makes it one of the most reliably high-performing schools in Florida.

Open Quote As an alumnus of New World, I can tell you wholeheartedly that going to NWSA was the best decision I have ever made. The way the curriculum is built, it challenges students to work hard academically as well as artistically. Even with the expectations set as high as they are, students are trained to exceed them and create expectations of themselves. Even if you feel you might not pursue the arts later on in life, New World is still academically strong and can/will train to get you into almost any school you desire to become a part of.
The teachers here are like no others. This summer alone I have visited several former instructors of mine. This shows the connection the teachers have with their students. They care and want the best for each and every one of the young artists and will try their best to help you.
Like many know, NWSA is a unique place that allows you to grow up and mature into your own person. There aren't any cliques or social hierarchies. Everyone is accepted for who they are and grow into young adults, prepared for their next step in life. Close Quote

Open Quote New World School Of The Arts is not a regular Senior High School, The fact that the people that attend the high school have shown the highest level of talent all though out the county, and that going to New World follows by responsibilities and high expectations, considering that its located in Downtown Miami, and also in a College Campus of Miami Dade College, New World is a Big Family (Though it only has approximate 400 Students), we learn from each other, we learn about other arts, and New World wouldn't be New World without they're so talented students, now about my personal experience with New World, I Lived In Venezuela, I studied music in a national music conservatory, and my Godmother, she lives in Miami, told me about New World, and my mom and I decided to move to United States so I can progress in my music career, I'm a piano player, but there was no piano auditions that year, so I learned how to sing opera and I made my auditions, it seemed impossible, but I guess that word is unknown by me right now. New World offers you the chance to get a scholarship in ANY college through out the Country, I know because I've seen people going to Juiliard, Boston Conservatory, Berkley, Harvard, Princeton, etc...
To Finish this up, New World is a chance to be with people like you or like your children, if you really want to do something, nothing is impossible remember that. Close Quote
