Summary

Coral Springs Elementary School is a public school in Coral Springs, FL, serving 370 students from Pre-K through 5th grade within the Broward County School District, and it has recently experienced a dramatic academic turnaround that sets it apart from nearby schools.

After several years of low performance, Coral Springs Elementary has made an extraordinary leap. In the 2025-2026 school year, the school jumped from a 1-star to a 3-star rating, a 30-percentile-point increase that is unmatched by any nearby school. This improvement is most striking in 3rd grade English Language Arts (ELA), where 81% of students are now proficient—the highest rate among all 10 nearby schools, including high-performing peers like Eagle Ridge Elementary School and Imagine School At Broward. The school also excels in 3rd grade math (74% proficient) and 4th grade ELA (70% proficient), both well above district and state averages. This success is particularly notable given that 60% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, a higher rate than at nearby Parkside Elementary School (41.5%), yet Coral Springs now outperforms Parkside in 3rd grade ELA.

Despite these academic gains, the school faces a significant challenge with chronic absenteeism. In 2023-2024, 38.2% of students were chronically absent—the highest rate among all nearby schools and well above the district average of 33.6%. This paradox of rising test scores alongside high absenteeism suggests that the students who attend regularly are receiving exceptionally effective instruction. The school also spends the most per student ($15,404) of any nearby school, which may be a necessary investment to support its high-needs population. While schools like Eagle Ridge and Imagine School at Broward spend less and achieve higher overall rankings, Coral Springs' recent progress indicates that its investments are beginning to pay off, particularly in the early grades.

Open Quote The school staffs are trying really hard to accomplish their purpose. However, they hardly have the help from parents... They are very helpful, and trying to stay organized, but it is hard if not everybody put a little bit of effort. The school would have a better grade if parent support them more. Close Quote
