Despite being part of a relatively high-performing district, Jefferson Junior/Senior High School has consistently ranked in the bottom 20% of Colorado high schools over the past decade, with rankings ranging from 254th out of 255 schools in 2015-2016 to 320th out of 328 schools in the most recent 2024-2025 school year. The school's performance on various subgroup metrics is also concerning, as it ranks in the bottom 25% of Colorado high schools for female students, male students, Hispanic students, and low socioeconomic status students. Additionally, the school's four-year graduation rate has hovered around 84% in recent years, which is lower than the state and district averages, and its dropout rate of around 1.5-2.1% is higher than the state and district averages.

When comparing Jefferson Junior/Senior High School to nearby schools within the same district, such as Wheat Ridge High School and Jefferson County Open Secondary, it becomes evident that the school is an outlier in terms of performance, with significantly higher statewide rankings, graduation rates, and academic proficiency rates. The high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School (around 80%) suggests that the school serves a predominantly low-income student population, which may contribute to the challenges the school faces in terms of academic achievement and other outcomes. Addressing the unique challenges faced by this school should be a priority for the district and community.

Open Quote would give this HS 0/5 stars if possible. schooldigger has this spot on, poor in academics; even worse in classroom etiquette from visit as guest teacher. A disgrace to all of the other fine schools within the Jeffco district in state of CO. Avoid sending your child here if at all possible. Close Quote
