Summary

North Star Academy is a highly successful public charter elementary and middle school in Parker, Colorado, serving 678 students in grades K-8. The school consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state, with a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger and exceptional performance on CMAS tests, far exceeding the district and state averages in English Language Arts, Math, and Science.

North Star Academy's strong academic performance extends across different student subgroups, with the school ranking 37th out of 694 Colorado elementary schools for female students and 40th out of 700 for male students, both with 5-star ratings. The school also has relatively low dropout rates, though its chronic absenteeism rates are an area for potential improvement. Compared to nearby schools in the Douglas County School District, North Star Academy's academic performance is significantly stronger, though a few other nearby charter schools, such as Parker Core Knowledge Charter School and Challenge to Excellence Charter School, also demonstrate strong academic achievement.

While North Star Academy's overall performance is excellent, the school could potentially focus on addressing its higher chronic absenteeism rates and explore ways to further diversify its student population in terms of socioeconomic status. The strong academic performance of North Star Academy and the nearby charter schools suggests that the charter school model, with its focus on specific educational approaches and curricula, may be a contributing factor to their success, along with the high-performing nature of the Douglas County School District as a whole.

Open Quote We have been very happy with North Star Academy since enrolling our child for Kindergarten. He is now in the 1st grade and has really excelled.

We have been very happy with the school because of their individual attention given to the students, the small class sizes, and the curriculum.

North Star focuses on helping the children to develop academically and to improve their character, which is an important point for us.

We are very happy with North Star and we would recommend NSA to friends and family. Close Quote

Open Quote We have been going to North Star Academy for 7 years now and we have learned so much. In NSA we are taught a grade level above and pushed to the limit of our learning capacity. We love and are going to miss it after are last year here as 8th graders at North Star Academy. Thanks for everything NSA! We love you! Close Quote
