The school serves a diverse community and shows strong results across student groups, including notable recent improvement for Hispanic students and those from low socioeconomic backgrounds. While performing well overall, there is a recognized opportunity to enhance support for students with disabilities.

Within its own district, Country Lane is a top performer, comparable to nearby Easterbrook Discovery and far ahead of schools like Latimer. Its chronic absenteeism rate is better than the state average. Open Quote My child attended this school for 4 years and I volunteered weekly during 3 of those. Neither my older child nor my younger child will attend this school or hopefully any public school. Here are PROS: safe, diverse, good Principal (I dealt with two of them), large (finding friends is never an issue), tons of “home stay moms” who volunteer. CONS: tons of work for parents with no educational value for children, too much fundraising (while in my opinion no need for it; the problem of the school is certainly not money), too much computer usage starting KG with some programs that both ineffective and bordering child-abuse (JiJi math), very weak academically, half teachers (or more) should be gone since they either too young to be good/too poorly-educated or too old (pre-retirement) to be effective, poor on-site after school care.
The problems we had - behavioral and academicals - all disappeared in a new school. The child is now “willing and engaged” vs. “doing poorly and constantly disturbs others in class”. If you, like most Americans, think that the real education starts in high school, you should stop reading my review. If you’re concerned about academics, it is not the correct school for you. Out of 4 years we had one good teacher and one terrible one, the other two were just OK. Overall, I felt the school, as many public schools, have no idea what “Curriculum” means and “HOW to teach” children. Since I went to school in a different country I didn’t know what to think and how to compare this school to others. While my child was generally, outside of one grade, happy to attend school and play wall ball, I went through multiple stages in relationship to this school, which started with “the school is great; it is our problem that our child doesn’t learn”, “the program is horrible; I will teach my child myself”, “it’s a terrible school; we must try something different”. I’m just too sorry I took 4 years to get here. My opinion – teachers’ union is to blame. I could never imagine that in our incredible state K-12 public education could be so poor. Close Quote
