Summary

Bryant Elementary is a K-5 public school serving 364 students in the Long Beach Unified School District, consistently earning a solid 3-star rating and performing at or above state averages in English and Math despite serving a community where many families face economic challenges.

What makes Bryant stand out is its notable effectiveness with its student population, achieving higher test scores than several nearby schools with similar demographics, such as Willard Elementary and Burbank Elementary. The school shows particular strength in supporting academic growth, with student proficiency improving noticeably between third and fifth grade. However, the school faces a significant challenge with chronic student absences, a rate higher than at schools with lower levels of economic need like Gant Elementary and Lowell Elementary.

Bryant operates with more funding per student and a lower student-to-teacher ratio than many comparison schools, which may contribute to its relative success. While its overall ranking is not as high as some less economically diverse schools, Bryant demonstrates that with adequate resources and targeted practices, it can deliver strong and consistent results for its community, recovering well from pandemic disruptions and providing a stable learning environment.

Open Quote My son was transferred from Mann to Bryant...and that was the best decision for him...my son had a severe speech impediment that his kindergarten teacher immediately recognized and set him up with the schools speech therapist, he in now in 4th grade and has completely overcome his speech impediment. There are great teachers at Bryant and their coaches and monitors are the absolute best, they are firm but caring and it shows in the behavior of the children. Close Quote
