Summary

Fammatre Elementary is a public K-5 school serving 482 students in the high-performing Cambrian School District of San Jose, consistently earning a 4-star rating and performing above the California state average in all core subjects.

While solid overall, Fammatre's academic proficiency is notably 10-15 points below the Cambrian district average and lags behind several nearby schools, including the exceptional Steindorf STEAM K-8 Magnet and higher-performing neighbors like Bagby Elementary. The school has shown a recent decline in its statewide ranking and exhibits an inconsistent academic pattern, with math scores dropping in 5th grade even as English scores improve. However, it maintains a lower chronic absenteeism rate than many area schools and has shown strong improvement in this area.

Fammatre operates with a higher student-teacher ratio and lower per-student spending than some comparable schools, such as Sartorette Charter and Farnham Charter, which achieve slightly better results with similar demographics. Key areas for attention include addressing performance disparities among different student groups and stabilizing year-to-year results, though the school's effective work with special education students and improving attendance are significant strengths.

Open Quote I was told that this is the best school in the Cambrian District! I transferred my daughter in her 5th grade school year from Bagby. Fammatre's academic teaching level, no tolerance for bullying and high positive energy makes for an amazing school. I wish I transferred my daughter sooner. Close Quote
